Linton L. Moyer
Mr. Moyer is a shareholder in and was one of the founders of the
Pittsburgh based law firm, Thomson, Rhodes & Cowie, P.C. In his more
than 25 years of litigation practice, Linton Moyer has concentrated on
the defense of malpractice cases against physicians, dentists and
hospitals. He has represented hundreds of dentists and physicians of
virtually every specialty and has tried cases to verdict throughout
Western Pennsylvania on malpractice issues and has presented programs
before the University of Pittsburgh Dental School faculty, the
Westmoreland County Medical Association, and numerous hospital and
nursing organizations.
In addition to defending malpractice cases, Mr. Moyer is expert in the
field of workers' compensation law and has represented insured and
self-insured defendants before virtually every workers' compensation
judge in Western Pennsylvania. He has argued several landmark workers'
compensation cases before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and
the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He is the head of the firm's workers'
compensation department, past editor of the Pennsylvania Bar
Association Workers' Compensation Newsletter, and present
editor of the Thomson, Rhodes & Cowie Pennsylvania Compensation
Bulletin.
Mr. Moyer is a summa cum laude graduate Albright College. He
was a junior high school teacher and basketball coach in Reading,
Pennsylvania for three years after graduation from college. He
graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1975. Mr. Moyer is a
member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and the Allegheny County,
Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations.
Mr. Moyer was admitted to practice law before the courts of
Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western
District of Pennsylvania in 1975. In 1989, he was admitted to practice
before the Supreme Court of the United States.
