Overview
Robin Frank concentrates her practice in several different areas, with a primary focus on family law, elder law and corporate law. Ms. Frank has over a decade of experience that involves handling family law cases throughout Western Pennsylvania, including divorce, property distribution, support, custody, grandparents’ rights, adoptions, and protection from abuse matters. She also devotes part of her practice to related issues such as prenuptial agreements, juvenile dependencies, guardianships, estate planning, and appellate court proceedings.
Prior to joining Thomson, Rhodes & Cowie, P.C., Ms. Frank began her career at a general practice firm, followed by a boutique family law firm, where she worked for over six (6) years. This diverse background helped to further her understanding of the unique challenges faced by each client. Whether the case leads to an amicable resolution or requires courtroom litigation, Ms. Frank strives to listen to her clients’ objectives so that she can provide them with the knowledge that they need to make informed decisions throughout each step of the process.
Ms. Frank graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in psychology and sociology. As an undergraduate, she worked on several research projects where she studied social interactions between family members. Her work on these projects continued during her time at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and this ultimately led to her interest in family law. A key component of the research involved promoting effective communication in order to achieve family goals, which is a skill that continues to serve her well in her legal practice today.
While attending the University of Pittsburgh, Ms. Frank also participated in diverse opportunities that fostered her creativity and helped her to grow as a leader. One of her favorite pastimes involved traveling around the country for college sporting events as a member of the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band. Based on this experience, she created a new organization dedicated to giving students and fans the best experience possible at University of Pittsburgh games. The project led to an internship with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics, where she later became a proud recipient of the George Carson Fellowship. Her work with the organization was also recognized nationally when the University of Pittsburgh received the NCAA Division 1-A Athletics Directors Association's "Sportsmanship Recognition Award" in 2006.
Today, Ms. Frank is honored to continue serving the legal community and the local community in various leadership roles. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” from 2013 through the present. She is also long-time member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, where she is involved with the Women in the Law Division, the Family Law Section, the Arts and the Law Committee, the Bench-Bar Committee, the Elder Law Committee and the Sports Law Committee. Her volunteer work includes participating as a pro bono attorney for Neighborhood Legal Services and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, along with serving as a mentor for the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh's "Panther Game Plan,” where she provides guidance to student-athletes with interests in legal careers
